The 18th-century St Maur’s Church was recently saved from demolition and converted into a library, with 20,000 books and 3,000 audio-visual items; this was done in large part by the people of Rush, CO Dublin and the Fingal County Council.
But, due to a bureaucratic blip, no one is able to read the books or use the audio-visual material: The building is not open. It needs eight staff, and currently has none, due to the public service recruitment embargo. So it remains closed.  Read more about it at the Irish Independent here and here.
