Librophiliac Love Letter: Beautiful Libraries →
librarynth: Everyone has some kind of place that makes them feel transported to a magical realm. For some people it’s castles with their noble history and crumbling towers. For others it’s abandoned factories, ivy choked, a sense of foreboding around every corner. For us here at Curious Expeditions, there has always been something about libraries. Row after row, shelf after shelf, there is...

The library is still a place of books, but the D.C. library’s gone high tech to the point that at this branch, a third or more of the space no longer involves paper. It includes 25,000 CDs, DVDs, and books on disks. It also has something called a “playaway,” an mp3 player you check out that contains an entire book. (via)

Overdue library books returned half century later
hamandheroin: A high school librarian in Phoenix says a former student at the school returned two overdue books checked out 51 years ago along with a $1,000 money order to cover the fines.
